The best kind of motivation is self-motivation.

A self motivated learner can learn many things in life. The journey of exploring new ideas and gaining new information, knowledge will continue with you through life. Self motivation is a good way to develop a positive mindset that allows you to be a sensible individual who can pass through life and deal with most situations effectively and efficiently.


Self-Motivation Techniques

  1. Start Simple

Keep motivation triggers around your work area – things that give you that initial spark to get going.

  1. Keep good company

Increase regular encounters with positive and motivated people. This could be as simple as texting them, sharing motivational or inspiring topics or posts with each other or a quick chat over the phone.

Positive and motivated people are very different to negative people. They will help you grow and see opportunities during tough times.

  1. Keep learning

Read or watch motivational or inspiring videos and try to take in as much you can. The more you learn, the more confident and focused you become on positivity.

  1. See the positive in bad situations

When you are facing challenges or obstacles, you want to get into the habit of finding a solution that works to get through it.

  1. Stop thinking

Just do it. If you are finding it hard to motivate yourself for a particular task, try starting something else. Something small that you can get through will give you the motivation and help you develop the momentum to begin the more important stuff.

  1. Understand yourself

Make a note or remember the times when your motivation is lacking and also when you feel really motivated or driven. You will start to notice a pattern that you can work around. Eventually developing your mindset to overcome these characteristics.

  1. Keep track of your progress

If you can visualise your progress for ongoing projects or work you can keep yourself in check and properly manage your expectations. When you see results moving in the right direction, you will always want to focus and help it grow and improve.

  1. Help others to help yourself

When you share your ideas and thoughts it can also help your friends or colleagues get motivated. Seeing others do well or relate to you will motivate you even further. 

 What should happen moving forward - You will find that you gradually develop the mindset and skill set to become self-motivated. But here is the thing, don't stop with yourself, make sure you help someone else stay motivated. Once you get to the stage where you are regularly helping others keep motivated you will refine the skills you have and be able to teach others.
